Maple Garden
Inspired by the client’s passion for their garden, this modest orangery-style extension, designed to replace a dilapidated conservatory, complements the existing structure and harmonises with the character of the small townhouse in its conservation area.
The design is thoughtfully subservient, allowing the beauty of the surrounding garden and host dwelling to take center stage.
A clean, white palette was chosen to accentuate the vibrant greenery and the client’s flourishing collection of plants, vegetables, and fruits.
A simple yet sophisticated set of doors creates a transition into the garden, inviting the outdoors in. The original kitchen window was removed, providing an open pass-through, allowing the client to cook while staying connected with guests—a subtle touch that enhances both social interaction and spatial flow.
The extension is rendered and scored to echo the masonry pattern of the host dwelling, ensuring a cohesive visual continuity. Above, a large rooflight bathes the living space in natural light year-round, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
