Our four-stage colour consultation process.
Most people can pick a colour they like. It’s far more difficult to pick eleven that work together, across changing light, in a house they’d rather not repaint twice. Across our four-stage proces, Zofia uses applied colour psychology to work out what you want to feel in each room, then tests that against the light, orientation and surroundings of your own home.
Understanding.
First, a pre-visit questionnaire: how you live, what you’re drawn to, and how you want each room to feel – calm, sociable, focused, cocooning. Colour affects us all differently, which is why an off-the-shelf palette so often disappoints.
Observing.
Zofia visits you to see how the light moves through the rooms across the day, which way they face, and what you already have – the sofa you’re keeping, the flooring, the art. A north-facing sitting room and a south-facing garden room need different answers to the same brief.
The Scheme.
Together, we curate a room-by-room scheme covering walls, ceilings and woodwork, with exact colours, the right paint and finish for each surface, and how the colours carry from one room to the next. It comes with a painting schedule your decorator can price and work from directly – no guesswork, no calls to you asking what goes where.
Ongoing Support.
We can arrange decorators if you’d like, or help you finish the room properly – a few furniture pieces, a complementary lighting design, fabrics, the things that make the colour sing.
We work across Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Edward Bulmer and others - we're not tied to any of them.
How to start your colour consultation.
The process itself begins with the questionnaire, so there’s nothing to prepare and nothing to commit to yet. If it feels like the right fit, we’ll send that over along with a short written proposal so you know exactly what’s included and what it will cost before anything starts.
And if you simply have questions first, Zofia would be delighted to answer them.

Colour Consultation FAQs
How do your fees work?
£145 + VAT per hour. As a guide, allow around an hour per room up to the point the colour scheme is prepared, so a four-room ground floor is typically four to five hours. You’ll receive a written proposal with the estimated fee before anything starts.
Can I use my own decorator?
Yes, and most clients do. You’ll receive a painting schedule your decorator can price and work from directly. If you’d rather not find one, we can arrange decorators for you.
Do you supply paint or samples?
No, and deliberately – we’re not tied to any paint brand, so we specify from across Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Edward Bulmer and others based on what suits your rooms. We’ll tell you exactly what to order and roughly how much of it.
How many rooms can you do at once?
Anything from a single room to a whole house. Whole-house schemes tend to work best, because the colours can be planned to flow from one room to the next rather than stopping at each doorway.
Do I need to have finished renovating first?
No. It’s often better to plan colour earlier, so decisions about flooring, joinery and lighting are made alongside it rather than against it.
Can you work with furniture I'm keeping?
Yes – that’s part of the site visit. Existing furniture, flooring, art and fabrics all get factored into the scheme rather than worked around.
How long does it take?
The scheme usually follows within a fortnight of the visit.
Do you work outside Winchester?
Yes. We work across Hampshire and further afield.
